Step by Step Tutorial to Send Simple SMS

Login to your Account.

Go to Send SMS Page: Follow the simple steps to send Simple SMS.

Send Simple Bulk SMS Message

Gateway Route:

Gateway Route is assigned by the Accounts Management team when they approve your account. The value of the route will be selected by default, hence you do not have to change any value within this field.

Sender ID / Mask:

If you have applied for multiple sender names, then you can select your desired sender name from the drop-down.

To Mobile:

You shall be entering your recepients mobile number in any of the following format.

  • Comma Separated. Example: 919999999xxx, 919999999yyy, 919999999zzz
  • New line. Example:
    919999999xxx
    919999999yyy
    919999999zzz
  • Colon Separated. Example: 919999999xxx;919999999yyy;919999999zzz

Append Saved Draft

This is optional field. If you have saved drafts earlier to send quick message then you can select the draft from this drop-down. Once you select from the drop-down, the selected message will automatically gets inserted in the text message content box. Learn more about Save and Manage SMS Drafts

Enable Link Tracking

If your message contains URL and you want to track the link clicking from your visitors. You can enable the same. You can learn more about tracking the links at SMS Campaign Link Tracking

Select Language:

You could send 3 types of SMS.

  • Text
  • Other (Unicode)
  • Flash

Text (English)

The term "Text (English)" refers to pure ASCII characters content which are included in default GSM character set with some special characters such as ~! @ # $ % ^ ( ) _ + | } { : < > / ; ' [ ] \. The message content needs to be in plain English.

Unicode (Other)

The term "Unicode (Other)" refers to a message content characters which are not included in default GSM character set. You could use any regional languages such as in India of Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Gujarati, Oriya, Assamese, etc., OR French, Hebrew when using International gateway.

Flash

The term "Flash" refers to a text message sent in "Text" format to the recipient's mobile number. Flash SMS does not get routed to recipient's mobile text inbox, rather it will display once on the recipient's mobile screen and disappears when recipient dismiss the message. You cannot send Unicode content and maximum 160 characters allowed in Flash SMS.

Message Content:

Type your desired message content. You could also check for the characters length used and message cost below the message content box as you type the message content.

You could send up to 2500 characters if "Text (English)" selected

You could send up to 625 characters if "Unicode (Other)" selected

You could send up to 169 characters if "Flash" selected

Delivery Network:

Delivery Network is assigned by the Accounts Management team when they approve your account. The value of the network will be selected by default, hence you do not have to change any value within this field.

Append Signature:

Signature option works similarly to SMS Drafts. If you want to save different signatures to append to different SMS Messages then you can save it all and get it within this field. You could save your Signature and append it by selecting from the drop-down.

Filter Duplicate Numbers

This option filters duplicate mobile numbers in your "To Mobile" field.

Default value is "ON". You can turn this "OFF" if you do not want to filter duplicate mobile numbers.

Save as Draft

As explained in Manage SMS Drafts tutorial, you can enable to save your current SMS message in your drafts and you can use the same message content for future campaigns.

Default value is "OFF". You can turn this "ON" if you want to save your message content as draft.

When to send?

You get 2 options to send:

  • Send Now!
  • Schedule Later!

Send Now

Select this option if you want to run your SMS campaign instantly.

Schedule Later

Select this option if you want to run your SMS campaign in future date time.


Required Fields to Send Simple SMS:

  • To Mobile
  • Sender ID / Mask
  • Select Language
  • Message Content
  • When to send?

Getting Started to Send SMS:

  • Select your Preferred Sender Name.
  • Enter Mobile Numbers.
  • Enable/Disable Link Tracking.
  • Select the preferred Language.
  • Enter your message content.
  • Cick on Send SMS to start the transmission.

Things to Remember:

  • Check for valid mobile numbers.
  • Do not copy paste message content.
  • While sending simple text message (i.e. English), pure ASCII characters required to deliver promptly.
  • Always send a test message to self or few test numbers before sending bulk SMS to your customers.
  • Do not try to schedule between 9pm to 9am if your assigned SMS Gateway route is Promotional type.
  • Do not send promotional SMS message if you are assigned SMS Gateway route type is Transactional.
